GLENPROSEN COTTAGES
on the edge of the new CAIRNGORMS
NATIONAL PARK . Comfortable
accommodation in traditional yet fully modernised stone cottages scattered
through Glenprosen. These cottages were once occupied by shepherds,
gardeners, or other staff of the Ogilvy family when this was a traditional
Victorian sporting estate. Red squirrels play in the trees, otters
frequent the burns, and deer graze all around. Because of our varied
scenery, that varies from beech woods to forest , pasture to heather
moor , mountain streams to river pools, we enjoy a spectacular range
of wildlife, including species largely extinct elsewhere in Britain,
such as Blackgame and ptarmigan. |
| BALNABOTH ESTATE occupies
the central part of Glenprosen extending to approximately 5,500 acres.
The estate has passed through the Ogilvy family since 1470, and the
oldest building on the site of Balnaboth
House is a stone vault dating from well
before 1600.
Many famous people have stayed
here, including J.M.Barrie, author of Peter Pan who wrote on leaving
"never have I had a happier holiday".
Enjoy the seclusion of beautiful Glen Prosen. Peaceful,
relaxing, scenic - yet just a few minutes drive from bustling market
towns, busy fishing harbours, and the City of Dundee. Good road,
rail and air access to Angus provide easy access to our accommodation
from all parts of the UK, or international destinations.(See "How to get here") Breakfast in London,
walk the hills of Glen Prosen in the afternoon - that's how reachable
we are!
Take a look at the accommodation
we offer, and you'll agree that your next trip - whether a short
break or a longer holiday - should be with Glenprosen Cottages.
